Kurukshetra - The Land of Bhagavad-Gita
In Kurukshetra at a spot called "Jyotisar", Lord Krishna spoke Bhagavad-Gita. There is an ancient Banyan tree, at this spot which has been eptimore of this most important event. Kurukshetra has been a holy place since Satya Yuga. Thus, many transcendental pastimes have taken place there. Most important is that Lord Krishna spoke Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna at Kurukshetra during a great war there 5,000 years ago. He also met with the residents of Vrindavana at Kurukshetra during the Solar eclipse after a long absence from their lives.
